Reviews
Ok, I'm a huge Big Trouble in Little China fan so I ended up grabbing this book after learning it wasn't just art from the comic line from last year. And after seeing some unfairly harsh reviews here I felt the need even more so to review this book. No, this isn't some cash grab book from BOOM studios or the authors. This is a companion book to the recently released Making of Big Trouble in Little China. Sure, I get why people are saying these 2 books should have been married together into 1 essential book. But that would be a rather thick book and the price would increase so I see it as a wash. And this art of BTILC is not just a bunch of unused comic art or pencil drawings, though it does have that. This book has everything from story boards and set blueprints to Funko Pop production designs and creature shop monsters and costume designs.I like that this book has the same quality and inside matching cover as the Making of book, I like the page layout, there's some great splash pages as well. Being a big comic fan I loved that they have all the variant covers from last year's BOOM Studios comic run. I have all the single issues and some variants but not all, so it's nice to see the ones that I missed. I'm a big Eric Powell fan (highly recommend his Goon comic) and his afterword was great. My favorite part of the whole book is the inside look at Sideshow Collectibles 1/6 scale Jack Burton action figure. I am a HUGE action figure collector, huge. And I've wanted a 1/6 scale Burton my whole life and figured I'd never get one. I saw pics of this figure on display at Comic Con last year and have patiently been awaiting the pre-order to go up. So to see new, behind the scenes pics of this amazing figure has me beyond stoked. I wish I could afford 2!If you get this book and it has quality issues, return it to Amazon. Aside from that, I don't understand why anyone who is a BTILC fan would have anything negative to say about this book. It's just as stellar as its companion book and was clearly made by fans and for us fans. This book comes FULLY APPROVED!
